Loved and Never Alone, Stars Go Dim Joins Our Story, Our Song

In 2007, Stars Go Dim was formed as a secular mainstream pop rock band from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Now singer, songwriter and worship leader Chris Cleveland performs under the pen name of the early pop rock band. Cleveland’s musical career showcases a variety of nominations and awards from institutions such as the Country Music Awards, Billboard, ASCAP, NSAI, and the Dove Awards.

Chris Cleveland sat down with Root & Vine to have an inspired conversation about music, faith, loss, hope, and more while filming his episode of Our Story Our Song. Join us as we go behind the scenes of this episode to get to know the artist behind the music.

“I want to be authentic to who I know God to be and how he is revealing himself to me in life and I want that to be truthful,” he says about how he hopes to be seen in this phase of life.

Speaking of his song  “You are Loved” he shares,  “There is a huge need for people to know that someone sees them and cares about them,” he says “it changed the way that I do ministry.”

With another resonating message, Cleveland shares that inspiration for his song “Grace in the Wilderness” came to him in a time of need in his own community’s time of tremendous loss. In Biblical definition, a wilderness refers to a period of “hardship or testing that often leads to a profound encounter with God.” When grief and loss rocked the life of a friend, Cleveland found himself amongst his friends writing the song “Grace in the Wilderness” together as a testament to the power of how the Lord extends us grace even in our darkest moments.

“I think when God shows up, there is always a sacred moment,” Cleveland explains “My job is to acknowledge the moment and try to meet God in that space.”

Cleveland also shares that he knows that he connects best with the Lord out in Creation.

“We only have a finite amount of time and resources, this is the only body we have. This is the only planet we have. We should care for it,” he shared and continued by saying “So I believe that God created this planet and this place and all of us with intent and purpose. We should steward that in our finite amount of time as best as we can.”

He continues, “Faith is a mystery and we can’t have mystery without wonder and that comes with being excited for the journey ahead. For me, that is what faith is.”.
